Forsaken introduces a new game mode called Gambit

The next two weeks could make or break the 'Destiny' franchise

On top of that, nine new supers are being added.

Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness.

Forsaken's story takes players back to the risky asteroid belt, The Reef, with Bungie promising the expansion will have a western-revenge vibe. Your job is now to hunt them down, without backup and far beyond friendly territory, as the former prisoners flee deep into the heart of the Reef. Earlier, the developer outlined the big changes hitting its shooter this September, as the alterations are rolled out alongside the title's next expansion, Destiny 2: Forsaken. Here's a look at its reveal trailer and its first details. The current plan is for more reveals and information to be gradually unveiled throughout the summer, as is Bungie's traditional wont. Explore new regions and awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long lost Awoken secrets.

Below is a quick checklist of what's included in the Gambit game mode.

Gambit will be a separate mode on the Director, existing alongside other play modes like Crucible. When enough motes have been banked, a team can summon a boss and defeat it to win the round. Players will also try to disrupt the other team by sending a combatant blocker or invading directly with one of their own team members. This one will be playable on the show floor at E3 next week.

With its new Year 2 expansion Bungie is directly responding to the clamoring frustrations of the Destiny 2 community. Reportedly, players' actions in the City will shape both it and the zone of the same name that it's located in, which will shape it from week to week based upon what players have accomplished. It got off to a fast start in 2015, but its first two expansions underwhelmed until the third - The Taken King - came out about a year the base game debuted. You get to play how you want, whether it's Destiny 1's weapon slot system, Destiny 2's, or even insane new loadouts like triple-shotguns.

And that's really the key points that Bungie has to share right now. It will culminate in a raid called the Dreaming City that Bungie describes as "like the Vault of Glass and Dreadnaught had a baby".
