Anger over 'forced' video of Indian pilot amid new Kashmir deaths

The Latest: Pakistan to restore key train service to India

Pakistan's military said on Saturday its air force and navy "continue to be alert and vigilant", while two of its soldiers were killed after exchanging fire with Indian troops along the LoC.

On Saturday, the OIC adopted a resolution on Kashmir, attacking India for "indiscriminate use of force against innocent Kashmiris" and also praised Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan for sending back Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured after an aerial encounter on Wednesday.

Tensions escalated dramatically between Pakistan and India on February 14 when a young man - a native of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) - rammed an explosives-laden auto into an Indian military convoy, killing at least 44 soldiers.

Residents near the disputed boundary in divided Kashmir say it was quiet overnight, the first lull since an escalation between Pakistan and India erupted last week. On the Indian side, a woman and her 2 children died after their house was pulverized by a mortar shell.

Varthaman, who was in one of the eight MiG-21s that took on the invading Pakistan Air Force jets and shot down an F-16, was released at the Wagah border on Friday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the two leaders exchanged views on the regional and worldwide developments, especially the differences between Pakistan and India.

"By and large the LoC was calm last night but you never know when it will become active again", said Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, a minister in Pakistani Kashmir.

"There is no peace without dignity and Pakistan just forgot that basic lesson in violation of Geneva convention", wrote Rajdeep Sardesai, a top editor with the India Today group.

According to Pentagon's Defense Security and Cooperation Agency (DSCA) F-16 jets were meant to be used to "enhance Pakistan's ability to conduct counter-insurgency and counter terrorism operations".

People carry national flags as they celebrate, after Pakistan shot down two Indian military aircrafts, in Lahore, Pakistan February 27, 2019.

A Pakistani government official says Indian troops with heavy weapons have "indiscriminately targeted border villagers" along the two countries' Line of Control in the Himalayan region of Kashmir, killing a boy and wounding three others.

Pakistan retaliated, shooting down a fighter jet on Wednesday and detaining its pilot, who was returned to India on Friday in a peace gesture.

The UK government has repeatedly called for a de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan since the Pulwama attack on February 14, with senior government ministers holding talks with their counterparts in India and Pakistan.

India accuses Pakistan of arming and training the rebels and sending them into Indian-controlled Kashmir to launch attacks against government targets.

India blamed Pakistan for backing the freedom fighters and vowed to take revenge.

Cross-border shelling in the past few days has killed seven people on the Pakistani side and four on the Indian side of Kashmir, but on Sunday it was relatively quiet.
