U.S. attorney general pressed for evidence clearing Trump

Here’s the evidence of Russian involvement in Trump’s campaign cover up — based on public records

If Special Counsel Robert Mueller thought he was safe from the president's Twitter-based criticism now that he's turned in his report to the Department of Justice, he's in for a rude awakening.

In another tweet, Trump called the report "a total waste of time".

This comes after Trump on Thursday accused The Times of not having any "legitimate sources".

Barr said he had concluded there was not enough evidence to show that Trump committed the crime of obstruction.

Mueller's full report will, according to Barr, be released sometime in mid-April, after the DOJ and others have had a chance to read and redact the report to protect classified and confidential information from leaking to the press and public. "When he talks about the attorney general being biased, my goodness, and on his committee he's got some of the most rabid people that hate Trump", Giuliani said, referring to the Judiciary chairman.

Trump is also likely concerned about reports that surfaced last week, indicating that some members of Mueller's core team are unhappy with the way their conclusions, particularly on the subject of the president's "obstruction", were characterized in a four-page letter issued by Attorney General Robert Barr.

Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, told Fox News that Democrats "really did believe" that Mueller would conclude that Trump had colluded with Russian Federation, saying, "The Democrat Party is contaminated with Trump Derangement Syndrome".

Barr said he was continuing to work with Mueller's office on redactions to the report so that it could be released to Congress and the public. "This Russia Hoax must never happen to another President, and Law Enforcement must find out, HOW DID IT START?"

So far, Barr has held firm to his stance that he will release this month more of the Mueller report, but stripped of evidence and testimony given to Mueller's grand jury.

In an odd stroke of timing, the federal appeals court in Washington issued a ruling Friday in an unrelated case that buttresses the argument for keeping a close hold on grand jury information.

A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to say whether this means there will be no claims of executive privilege invoked over any part of Mueller's report or whether Barr might, at some point, advise Trump to invoke the privilege over some sections, or whether Barr might do so unilaterally. We - the members of the Judiciary Committee, the House of Representatives and the entire American public - are still waiting to see that report. Giuliani swiftly went on to say that he had no control over what Barr would decide in terms of redactions.

"Well, the attorney general said there was no obstruction of justice".
