Ilhan Omar Attacks Israel. Liz Cheney Demolishes Her With One Tweet

Palestinian media reported that the killing of the man, identified as Ahmed al-Khodary, was Israel's first targeted assassination of a high profile official in Gaza since 2014. Roads were reopened and restrictions on large groups of people gathering in public spaces were lifted.

If you glanced at your push notifications or scrolled through verified Twitter over the weekend, you likely saw reports granting equal treatment to the nation of Israel and terrorists with Hamas in the Gaza Strip who launched some 700 rockets targeting southern Israel in less than 48 hours. The military said a civilian was killed near the border by an anti-tank missile fired at his vehicle from Gaza and a fourth died when a rocket struck the city of Ashdod.

In addition to Israeli opposition parties, one senior member of the prime minister's Likud party criticized the ceasefire Monday morning. 23 Palestinians, including two pregnant women and two infants, were killed, as Israeli struck hundreds of targets in Gaza.

Smotrich's remarks are just another example of "chest-pumping" from politicians lacking a say in final military decisions, according to Plitnick, who noted that the chances of such an attack are relatively low.

As in previous rounds of tit-for-tat fighting, the ceasefire appeared to be a UN-backed effort mediated by Egypt. "Those rockets are being fired by Hamas toward the civilian population here in Israel", said Israel Police National Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

Following the army's statement, the Education Ministry announced schools would be open as usual in the cities and communities where not long ago sirens blared ceaselessly.

Factions in Gaza also changed tactics, firing multiple barrages of rockets at once, meaning Israel's Iron Dome defence system was unable to intercept them all.

But the cessation was greeted with little enthusiasm in the Israeli cities, towns and villages where Israelis were fuming, as well as tired of having to run to shelters.

One conservative commenter made a decision to give Omar a short lesson in history, noting succinctly, "Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005".

"A ceasefire, in the circumstances reached, bears no achievements for Israel", lawmaker Gideon Saar tweeted. "We strongly condemn the attacks in Gaza by Hamas terrorists", he tweeted. "The campaign has not been prevented, just delayed".

Still, Hamas' leader Ismail Haniyeh said late Sunday that the militant group was "not interested in a new war", and the start on Monday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan likely lessened motivation for battle. Many think Memorial Day, Independence Day and the upcoming worldwide song contest in Tel Aviv, Eurovision, put the brakes on Israel's response.

"How many more protesters must be shot, rockets must be fired, and little kids must be killed until the endless cycle of violence ends?"

The flare-up came as Hamas, the movement that rules the blockaded enclave, sought further concessions from Israel under a fragile months-old ceasefire. According to the survey, one in five Englishmen also claimed that less than two million Jews had died in the Holocaust and half of all respondents said they did not know how many Jews had died. "We are prepared to continue".
